For many couples in Arizona, getting divorced can be extremely challenging. From creating

• Give themselves plenty of time to mourn.
• Embrace their new role and the learning opportunities it provides.
• Work through their feelings by participating in an activity that they enjoy or talking to a therapist.
• Rediscover themselves by taking the time to do things they enjoyed before marriage.
• Get a new haircut, change careers, move to a different city or make another exciting change in their lives. “Look for changes you can say yes to, instead of dwelling on what’s out of reach.”

Those who recently went through a divorce should remember that the healing process takes time. The rise in the divorce party

According to the Huffington Post, many lawyers, bakers and event planners have seen a noticeable increase in the number of divorce parties over the past few years. For example, a Texas man co-hosted a party with his ex-wife following his divorce. The party featured a lemon cake, which is a favorite flavor of both ex-spouses, and was cut by them like the cake they cut on their wedding day 10 years earlier. In response to the celebration, the ex-husband said that it provided him with closure, especially since there were children involved in his marriage.

Like cutting a cake, many divorcees put a twist on marriage traditions during these parties. For example, a woman who threw a
divorce party in 2012 framed pictures of wedding gifts and gave them back to guests, had one of her bridesmaids throw her back a bouquet of flowers, wore white and had her father walk down the chapel aisle to take her back.

However, not all of these parties are as positive. For instance, a baker in Florida creates what she calls “freedom cakes” for these parties. Some of these confections feature the wife pushing the husband off of the top tier or a groom with a broken heart on the lapel of his suit jacket.
